WWT Consulting undertook ecological survey work to assess the conservation value of the site and the effect of forestry on the water chemistry of the lake. This was achieved through botanical survey using National Vegetation Classification (NVC) of aquatic and terrestrial lakeside habitats including emergent and aquatic communities as well as woodland, heathland and mire communities, general faunal recording and water sampling. The findings from the investigation were reported to the client and recommendations made for the future management of the site.
The potential for interpretation at the site was also discussed, including the possible impact of the development of log cabins to cater for residential courses.
