Marie Orchard is today presenting at Observanatura on the Sado Estuary, south of Lisbon, Portugal. The focus for this year's event, run by the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Biodiversity, is 'Nature Tourism'.
WWT Consulting's presentation on visitor centre planning will focus on maximising the benefits to wildlife and people in developing visitor facilities for tourists and school groups to get close to wetland wildlife.
The Sado Estuary Reserve, designated as a National Nature Reserve and Ramsar site, is a beautiful spot to hold a conference, with a disused tidal mill providing a focal point, many species of wetland bird occuring on the saltmarsh and a resident pod of Bottlenose dolphins that regularly entertain tourists on boat trips.
